Belluno is both the gateway to the Dolomites <\/strong>and the path towards the Venetian plains<\/strong>. The capital of the province of Belluno is a small jewel<\/strong>, nestled between majestic mountain ranges<\/strong> and cradled by the waters of the Piave River<\/strong>. Ancient Celtics named Belluno Belo-dunum <\/strong>or bright<\/strong>, shining city<\/strong>, as it was considered the sunniest area of the Piave valley<\/strong>. The historic centre is a popular meeting place for locals; noble palaces<\/strong>, fountains <\/strong>and artistic masterpieces<\/strong> are a pleasant discovery for tourists. Belluno and its surrounding areas enjoy a harmonious confluence of nature and urban life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fulcis Museum<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With over 3,000 metres of exhibition spac<\/strong>e in a palace with 18th-century <\/strong>stuccoes and frescoes, Belluno\u2019s Civic Museum <\/strong>is the pearl<\/strong> of the city\u2019s historic centre<\/strong>. The museum complex spreads over five floors<\/strong> and contains 24 rooms in one of the most beautiful 18th-century buildings in Veneto. It houses numerous important works of art and collections<\/strong>, such as the \u2018Pinacoteca\u2019 exhibit that contains paintings and frescoes by artists who lived or worked in the Belluno area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interactive Museum of Migration (MIM)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The MIM museum<\/strong> is located at the headquarters of the \u2018Bellunese in the World<\/strong>\u2019 association<\/strong>, a reference point for migrants <\/strong>in Belluno and abroad. For several years, individuals participating in tours <\/strong>organised by the association have stayed at the Lucia De Conz Foundation <\/strong>while visiting cities and attractions in the Veneto region. The museum <\/strong>has small interactive exhibits <\/strong>that aim to help visitors understand the universal migration experience<\/strong>; one exhibit showcases photographic portraits <\/strong>and video interviews<\/strong> of Belluno residents who have moved abroad. The museum also organises ten different workshops <\/strong>for local students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
